I'm going to add this to the bug I've filed as well, but since buzilla is down
for today:

Some additional observations:

- The warning messages only appear with quodlibet, not with other players
(such as rhythmbox). The playback issue however is present with all players
I've tried.

- I have gathered more evidence that the playback problem is not a decoder
specific problem, since I've been able to reproduce it with both mp3 and ogg
vorbis data. Furthermore, the sampling rate threshold for the playback to
become stuttering is < 12800 Hz.

Perhaps you could try and resample some audio file you have to a rate below
12800 Hz and try to play it in rhythmbox or some other gst-0.10 player, so a
driver specific issue can be ruled out (the via8223 driver does seem somewhat
quirky, but it's the only sound hardware supported by FreeBSD that I have
available at the moment).

Cheers,
