 Joe:

Thanks for the suggestion, however it did not work. I think the problem
is that the framebuffer device (fbdev) is missing. What is fbdev, how
does it get installed, is there a procedure to fix it if it breaks? When
I type /usr/X11R6/bin/gnome-session on the command line, I get back the
following:

(gnome-session:599) : Gtk WARNING **: cannot open display:

I followed the upgrade instructions, and the upgrade completed
successfully. This is the second time I have had this happen on this
upgrade. I did not see anything in the documentation about this. Is
there a step that I missed somewhere? Has anyone else had this problem?
What else can I try, I have another box that I need to upgrade?

Also, I have a question about packages. Installing gnome is really easy
when you can issue "pkg_add -r gnome2". I do not want to track the
developemnt branch, how do you know when you can use pkg_add and get 2.12?

Thanks in advance,

Andy
