Flash 7 plugin no longer working in Firefox

Has anyone else noticed that Flash 7 has stopped working in Firefox recently?
I unfortunately cannot pinpoint the breakage to any particular date or change
in a particular port.

I'm running 5.4-STABLE using this libmap.conf:

[/usr/X11R6/lib/linux-flashplugin7/libflashplayer.so]
libpthread.so.0 libpthread.so.1
libdl.so.2 pluginwrapper/flash7.so
libz.so.1 libz.so.2
libm.so.6 libm.so.3
libc.so.6 pluginwrapper/flash7.so

When a flash applet initializes, I get

/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/pluginwrapper/flash7.so: Undefined symbol
"_dlsym"

and Firefox winks out.

This is rather dire, since Flash7 is the only way for me to use
flickr.com ;-). Incidentally, the last time I used flickr.com's flash
'Organizer' applet provides me with a last-known-good date as well: October
28th.

Any clues?

Cheers,
