devel/gamin and devel/fam

I've started to have a confict with gamin and fam in that they both
want to install files in the same place but can't because the other
has files there.  And both are built/installed as different gnome
dependences.
Since gamin is suppose to be a subset of fam, is the proper thing to
do remove gamin and keep fam, or how should this be handled??
