This was planned. With 2.6 Nautilus is going spatial navigation, 
that's how it is called. But you can still open a window the older 
way. Read some info online, there used to be lots of discussion on 
the spatial navigation getting into Nautilus, and how to deal with 
it.

I think it was discussed already, and you can find out some info in
