Gnome 2.5: SMB mounts not appearing on desktop

Hi all, I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same problem with
smb mounts that I am having.  I mount a share from my server via the
command line as root but no icon appears on my desktop as it does in
gnome 2.4.  If I do the same with a CD I have no problems though.  I
checked Gnome's bugzilla but couldn't find any gnome-vfs-extras bugs
related to this.  Anyone else seen or experienced this?  I just resynced
with marcusmerge about 45 minutes ago and I still have the problem.
