problems building gnome

doing the 'gnome upgrade' shell, step 5 failed reinstalling 'gnome2'
(apparently the final step).  Running FBSD 5.3-STABLE

I observed that the problems were with security/nss - kept giving me thread
warning errors (don't have copies of the error messages, it was related to
pthread calls to a mutex for something that "wasn't threaded").  Re-built
and re-installed Perl and devel/nspr (the 2 dependencies for security/nss),
problem went away (i.e. nss installed successfully).  I continued the
process by doing a 'make reinstall' in gnome2 the way the script
recommended, and have not completed it as of yet.  Wanted to let you know
about this particular problem.
