These two can probably be closed.  His system has some problems.  None
of these problems appear in a clean build, or a package install on a
clean system off of the GNOME Tinderbox.

This is unreproduceable to me.  I would say find out if it still happens
with 0.2.35, and if so, pursue it with the esound developers and/or the
FreeBSD sound people.

I think this is pending some other updates.  You might want to ask the
author about it.  I'm not opposed to doing what he suggests as long as X

I don't see why we need to get anymore clever with pkgconfig.  It is
small, and is generally needed on any desktop system.

This needs to be suspended.  The update to 2.1.9 can't happen right now
since it breaks too many important ports.  X.Org was fixed to need 2.1.4
or higher, so this is no longer an issue there.  I've tested the 2.1.9
update, and while rendering is better, the API changes make it
prohibitive right now.
