2.6 cool file selection dialogue - how to browse dot-names ?

Hi Gnome

I am try to set background with gnome 2.6.

I have my favorite background image in ~/.my/X/Back.xmp

How I can browse this directory with modern gnome file selection
dialogue ? There is no option to show dot-names and there is no input
field to enter path manually ?

Another question, why evolution used old dialogue on attachment save  ?
