Come GNOME 2.4, the unknown PNG file will no longer exist in the
gnome/pixmaps directory.  Instead, it will be found in
${X11BASE}/share/icons/gnome/48x48/apps/gnome-unknown.png.  It exists
there now in GNOME 2.2 and 2.3.  You might consider updating StarterBar
accordingly.
