To install Evo 1.4, the output of this command needs to be either
nothing or 2. I'd be willing to bet that the output on your machine is
1.

I'd also be willing to bet that the cause is an old GNOME1 core
component (probably libpanel). Try forcibly deinstalling the component
and anything that depends on it, then install Evo 1.4, then reinstall
the apps that were dependent on the component (they shouldn't be
dependent anymore).
