System degradation requiring rebooting every day...

There are some known issues with libgtop.  I haven't had a chance to
dive into fixing them, and I may never do it.  So, if someone wants to
tackle the project, be my guest.  In the meantime, I recommend you
remove all applets that use libgtop, and see if that helps.
