i've read the mail regarding gdm2 because it was also sent to the list.
(please click on »answer all« that also the list get your answer :-))
if gdm is the culprit than not by me. i've installed the latest ports
(at least this is true for all gnome and related ports) on -CURRENT
and also gdm. i've no problem.
you can enter "pkg_version -l \<" to see for which ports are updates
available.
maybe you should also update/rebuild Xft, fontconfig?
