Linux NBD protocol support in ggatec?

Or perhaps someone could ask them why are they using what seems to be
an obsolete proprietary protocol instead of something modern.  Maybe it's
just a workaround for some trivial Linux-specific problem, and they could
provide an alternative for other systems?
