We are getting lockups on a 640T fileserver as well.  About once a week.  

I currently have:

# sysctl kern.maxvnodes
kern.maxvnodes: 22999999
# sysctl vfs.numvnodes
vfs.numvnodes: 22999998

(We've been increasing it a lot and monitoring RAM usage)
