AFAIK, the journaling code issues BIO_FLUSH only when debug.softdep.flushcache
is set to 1, which it is not by default. I have not been able to reproduce the
issue with or without that sysctl set, but it would interesting to know whether
anyone that can reproduce this is setting that sysctl.
