No, As far as I can see there is no relation.

I have not been experiencing that issue, and I don't know what could be causing
it. Contrary to this problem I have absolutely no clue where to look at to fix
that since I don't know how X11 clipboards work.

I;m using VBoxSVGA driver on all my machines though, and really don't know what
the point is of using VMSVGA, which looks like having less features.

My personal opinion is that the virtualbox default suggestion of using VMSVGA
is misguided.
