Frame 9 shows a NULL (0x0), so, at risk of stating the obvious, this looks like
a NULL pointer dereference.

I've looked around base sources just in case I could spot something change. I
did not find anything obvious.

I do have a sensation (nothing objective) commit 848f8effdd69 [1] could be
related, but I can't say I have an understanding of this code.

I'm still trying to understand what is going on.
