For the record, there are now 61 linux port that are not version specific.

As to why not c6, I moved to c7 because of two ports that had known
vulnerabilities and, since c6 was no longer getting security fixes, c7 was the
obvious solution. That c6 was no longer getting updates was not confirmed by
me. I just know that one of the vulnerable ports had been there for well over a
year.
