Sorry, I don't quite understand. What do you mean by "if you don't
specify anything"? To get 7.x installed you should do either install
it by hand or define it at /etc/make.conf. In all other cases
(i.e. when installing ports which need linux_base to work) 8.0 should
be installed.

How did you get in installed?
