Well, I don't know if this helps, but I'm running it sucessfully under:

    FreeBSD genius.tao.org.uk 6.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE #36: Sun Apr 23 21:04:59 BST 2006 joe at genius.tao.org.uk:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENIUS2  i386

using these ports:

    linux-XFree86-libs-4.3.99.902_7/
    linux_base-suse-9.2/
    vmware-guestd-4.5.2.8848_2/
    vmware-tools-4.5.2.8848_2/
    vmware3-3.2.1.2242_12,1/

I've got this defined in /etc/make.conf

    OVERRIDE_LINUX_BASE_PORT=suse-9.2

I can confirm that I do have acpi enabled.
