NanoBSD on VMware (no serial console)

I changed boot0sio to boot0 and disabled made loader.conf have  
hint.atkbdc.0.disabled="0" and now I get the choice of which NanoBSD  
partition to boot, but it freezes after showing "\" on the next line.

Any ideas?
