I know nothing about Go / filebeat but isn't the problem in bashism? [[ 

This Makefile [1] contains SHELL=bash which is patched by port maintainer to
SHELL=sh so I gues our sh does not like 
[[ $(BEAT_NAME) == journalbeat ]]
