            Bug ID: 217985
Summary: Handbook update to 12.3. Configuring Boot Time Splash
                    Screens chapter
           Product: Documentation
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Many People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Documentation
          Assignee: freebsd-doc at FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: joeb1 at a1poweruser.com

You can remove this from the chapter because it's now loaded by default. A
message is issued during the boot process if vesa_load="YES" is in loader.conf.

Remove the following.

To use larger images that fill the whole display screen, up to the maximum
resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels, the VESA module must also be loaded during
system boot. If using a custom kernel, ensure that the custom kernel
configuration file includes the VESA kernel configuration option. To load the
VESA module for the splash screen, add this line to /boot/loader.conf before
the three lines mentioned in the above examples:

vesa_load="YES"
