First commit date would be - in most cases - pretty close to what is in 
the access file (as new committers have to add themselves to several 
files, news etc). The end date may actually be way off as accounts 
usually "time out" after 1 year (instead of been closed manually), so 
this makes sense. I don't think it's very important though.
