This is probably something that should be asked on a PC-BSD forum, but it just 
so happens I have the answer.

PC-BSD is too big to fit on a live-cd but we are working on a live-DVD 
version.  Hopefully in a week or so you'll be able to find an announcement 
and download for it on http://www.pcbsd.org
