The atheros (ath) wireless driver is not mentioned in the hardware release notes of the amd64 version of 6.2-RELEASE. It is mentioned in the i386 version. Clearly this is an omission, since ath works fine on amd64 and is quite a popular wireless chipset among FreeBSD users.
