How do you identify the query behind running CVSWEB in cvsweb.cgi

I am trying to change the content of one of the fields within CVSWEB
without having any perl knowledge (Very difficult!!!). I have it all sorted
and figured out except for identifying the query and fieldname to change
last log entry into the first log entry. This is so the operator will see
the initial entry (which is the main description) without having to see all
entries for new versions.
If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
