Hi Julian,
	I just worked around the issue by bypassing the manpage generation as part of buildworld: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base?view=revision&revision=359385 <https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base?view=revision&revision=359385> . While the approach you took makes wonderful sense, I thought it was best to not have to continually rebuild the manpages for little to no gain.
