ERROR: ctfconvert: aaa_bbb.o doesn't have type data to convert

Greetings,
 I'm building/installing world/kernel on a fresh 11-CURRENT.
As I write this, the kernel is building, and emitting 100's
of lines with the following:
ERROR: ctfconvert: aaa_bbb.o doesn't have type data to convert
where aaa_bbb is the driver file being created.
Should I be concerned? What would cause this?
