problem on usb boot from mini itx

I'm using the flash disk and I got to boot. I copied kernel/kernel, and
all files from /boot, and defaults/loader.conf. I get to the point where
it fails to mount /, and just finds /dev/ad0 stuff (the flash disk). I did
change loader.conf to say rootdev=disk1s1a (which I believe to be the usb
disk). was this suppose to work ?
I'll now copy the usb and umass modules to the flash disk (hope it will
fit) and put on loader to load them as soon.

if anyone has any hints, please :)
