FreeBSD 8: fails booting from slice ad8s1a

Since January, 3rd my FreeBSD 8/amd64 box won't boot anymore. I have
buildworld the most recent sources. Symptomes: after loading and booting
kernel,
booting suddenly stops and I'm getting prompted for defining the boot
slice like

ufs:/dev/ad8s1a

Typing '?' offers GEOM managed slices/partitions/devices. What changed?

Well, I;m confused, because everything worked perfect on January 3rd
when I recompiled world, but after then, after svn updating again,
booting stops.

What informations should I provide?
