Unkillable and runaway processes

I have a similar, but possibly unrelated problem: almost the same as 
yours (ZFS & rsync backups), except there's a kernel panic in 
zfs_reclaim instead of a hang. This is on an old P3/1GHz machine, 
running without debugging options.
