erg... it seems looking at that output it's the same set of 8 disks (the
chassis isn't presenting the second set at all).  The next time I am in
front of the box, I will poke at the disk appliance firmware to get it
to present all 16 (unique) disks.

Sorry for the noise, should have thought that might have been the issue
before sending that last message. (as I have been poking the box all day
remotely)
