upgrade 6-STABLE to -CURRENT on sparc64 renders box unusable

Just want to say `me too'! Not sure whether it's related to ld-elf, but
I know my SPARC is rendered useless after upgrading world. I can't find
a working display (one with sync on green) for my box at the moment, so
I can't really investigate this problem. :(
