sed misbehaving?

I updated my system from STABLE to CURRENT yesterday: FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #0: 
Sun Aug 26 16:47:13 CEST 2007 and don`t see this behaviour:

space at a144026 space$ echo 'ABC'|sed 's/a/z/'
ABC
