not sure, of course.  but 
  o this would not seem to be a recent phenomonon, and my leak is
  o my leak keeps leaking more when i do nothing, i.e. when no
    new images are being loaded.

well, on that last point, i do have an mrtg running that refreshes
itself every five minutes.  and it has 20+ gif graphs.
