Thanks for the pointer, I'll take a look at it before asling questions.
In general, the biggest gap in my knowledge relates to registers, how
the ABI defines their use and how GDB likes to number them.

Things that eventually need to be implemented:

o  KGDB
    *  src/sys/powerpc/include/gdb_machdep.h
    *  src/gnu/usr.bin/gdb/kgdb/trgt_powerpc.c
o  Threading:
    *  src/lib/libthread_db/arch/powerpc/*
