I've the same here. dmesg(8), /var/run/dmesg.boot and /var/log/messages
are saying:

Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ad0s2a
re0: link state changed to UP

But my screen shows:

Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ad0s2a
re0: link state changed to DOWN
