It wont work as is, but the maintainer has had access to this WIP long
before it went public, and to quote:
"Feel free to commit the new framework when you see fit, I'll follow up
with the necessary atapi-cam updates"
Other than that I'm out of that loop...

I'll more likely post the patches I use for cdrecord/cdrdao/dvd+rw-tools
so they can use ATA directly..
