Boot / Install freeze with Dell PE1850 5.3 and amd64

I'm running RELENG_5 (stable) on some webservers, one
nfs-server and one db-server (postgresql). Works very
nice. According to the current-list RELENG_5 has some
enhancements to smp (amongst others) which aren't
found in 5_3 and makes it better suited as a server.
