I have played a bit more with my 4way dell that seems to have similar
problems. There are still issues with 5.x and 6.x for me if I add another
card, or move around the existing cards. To see if it was specifically the
AMR, I pulled it, but the box still has issues booting to Beta 2. Soon as
it sees the IDE controller, it kills the box. I tried booting a Knoppix CD
to see if Linux has a similar problem, but it seems to deal just fine with
the box as does RELENG_4. I have dmesgs from all 3 boxes at
