There seems to be an issue with SMP and ACPI which came into the tree 
somewhere after BETA3, see the corresponding threads in current@

SMP problems with -CURRENT? (and BETA5)

Me too: Beta3->Beta5; booting with ACPI enabled fails on P4 HT system

It seems there are different people having SMP setups (no matter if real 
processors ot HTT) are unable to boot with ACPI.
