I'll assemble a serial cable and recompile the kernel with debugging
components and come back to you as soon as I've got more details on that.

I've already build the kernel with SCHED_4BSD but without PREEMPTION
(_never_ had PREEMPTION in my kernel config - should I try it?).

No, first board had P-III 600 MHz, second had AMD k6/2-500, both single CPU.
