OK, sounds very good.  But what about PCM-related sysctls then?
How will hw.snd.pcm0.vchans be represented, for example?
hw.snd.0.vchans maybe?

Sure, that's fine.  ;)

Can you please send me some plain text paragraph for the pcm(4)
manpage that will be linked to the sound(4) manpage, documenting
future plans like renaming "sound" to "snd", so people stay
