Resolver (or lo0 aliasing) doesn't seem to work

Hi all,
Since last buildworld/kernel (last night, compiled with default flags):
uname -a:
FreeBSD kushnir1.kiev.ua 6.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 6.0-CURRENT #22: Sat Nov 13 
10:17:11 EET 2004     root at kushnir1.kiev.ua:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/KUSHNIR i386

>From /etc/rc.conf:
ifconfig_lo0_alias0="inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 0xffffffff"

ifconfig -u

ping 10.0.0.1
No route to host
(when off-line)
or just hangs when online. Box on a dial-up line, using ISP's DNS (which 
obviously does not know of my 10.0.0.1)
