5.2.1 X problems with Vaio laptop

I also had this problem on my VAIO SR1K.  I found that disabling ACPI made
X work, but broke networking (both the PCMCIA network cards I have here
gave watchdog errors).

I commented out the 'dri' option in my XF86Config and now everything is
fine.
