Curious MySQL building problem /w GCC 3.4.2 (and firefox or mozilla)

i saw the same as well with firefox after cvsup to
28-jul sources (kernel, world, ports)

the conftest.s has the 'as' routine of (or something
close, not near my machine where i saw this)
.hidden foo:
foo

cc forks to run 'as' and waits for input.
