If you're using KDE already you can use konqueror to play your CD via 

Visit the URL audiocd:/By Track/Track 01.wav?device=/dev/acd0 (or play it with 
Kaboodle directly)

kscd should really use that kioslave IMHO but I guess kscd was around first :)
