If it falls back to a regular record-based transfer, as it does for me,
it means it does not work:

# /usr/libexec/ypxfr -f passwd.byname
ypxfr: call to rpc.ypxfrd failed: RPC: Timed out
ypxfr: Exiting: Map successfully transferred
